2. Description / Pharmacology:
Calcium is a vital mineral necessary for the maintenance of bone strength, neuromuscular activity, and cardiac function. A deficiency can lead to bone resorption and related disorders such as osteoporosis and osteomalacia.
Vitamin D₃ (Cholecalciferol) enhances calcium absorption from the gastrointestinal tract and helps maintain proper calcium-phosphorus balance in the blood. It also promotes bone mineralization and growth.
Coral Calcium, derived from marine sources, has a chemical structure similar to human bone, ensuring superior absorption and bioavailability compared to regular calcium carbonate.
The combination of Calcium and Vitamin D₃ shows synergistic benefits in maintaining bone health and reducing fracture risks.

5. Drug Interactions:
-
Thiazide diuretics: Risk of hypercalcemia — monitor serum calcium.
-
Corticosteroids: Reduce calcium absorption; may need dose adjustment.
-
Tetracyclines / Bisphosphonates: Administer 2–6 hours apart.
-
Cardiac glycosides (e.g., Digoxin): May increase toxicity if calcium rises.
-
Ion-exchange resins (e.g., Cholestyramine): May reduce Vitamin D₃ absorption.
-
Foods high in oxalate/phytate (spinach, whole grains): Decrease calcium absorption — avoid taking within 2 hours of these.
6. Contraindications:
-
Hypercalcemia or hyperparathyroidism
-
Hypercalciuria or nephrolithiasis
-
Severe renal impairment
-
Hypersensitivity to any ingredient

Concomitant digoxin therapy (without monitoring)
7. Side Effects:
-
Mild constipation or GI irritation
-
Rare: Hypercalcemia (especially in renal impairment or overdose)
-
Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, drowsiness
-
Occasional allergic reactions or irregular heartbeat
8. Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when used as recommended.
Total daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU Vitamin D₃.
Avoid overdose to prevent maternal or fetal hypercalcemia.
Calcium and Vitamin D₃ both pass into breast milk.
9. Precautions & Warnings:
-
Monitor serum calcium and renal function during prolonged therapy.
